Roopa and Kevin eloped earlier in 2022, but still wanted to celebrate with their friends and loved ones. Their reception was one of the best I've ever photographed or attended! Their DJ, Dream Prashant, kept everyone on the dance floor, having a blast! The food, catered by Spork Bytes, tasted amazing. The planning and coordination was top-notch, I highly recommend Joie at Your Perfect Bridesmaid! The venue, EcoTrust Studio in the Pearl in downtown Portland, was gorgeous. The linens, tables, chairs, and décor by Party Place PDX, made the whole event pop!
After Kevin and Roopa arrived at the EcoTrust, we walked to Tanner Park to take family, group, and intimate couples photos. My partner, Sam, was the second photographer for this wedding, and while I photographed the remainder of the couple's photos at Tanner Park, Sam walked back with all the relatives to photograph the cocktail hour.
Roopa, Kevin, and I returned to the EcoTrust to start the party, and they mingled while waiting for their grand entrance announcement. When the DJ announced them, Roopa and Kevin danced in, and their guests erupted in cheers!
After their intro entrance dance, Roopa and Kevin thanked their guests. Shortly after, their parents and family came up to the head table, gave speeches, and toasted the bride and groom. After speeches and toasts, the couple cut their small cake and started the dancing with their first (but really second) dance. DJ Prashant, really got the dance floor going with a mix of Bollywood and Top 40, with EVERYONE dancing. He even led the group in a dance lesson! (I would 100% hire him to DJ my own wedding!)
This was a wedding that fueled my continued love of photographing weddings and celebrations. I love it when the couple embraces the party, dances the night away with their guests, and just enjoys themselves.
