Although my partner and I have 3 cats and no corgis, we were both so excited to experience Corgi Beach Day in Seaside, Oregon today. For those who have never been, it's a meetup for corgis and their chaperones. My partner and I, plus our bestie and her dog, Nemo, all piled into my Jeep and floored it to Seaside at 7:30 AM. Our plan was to arrive early, find parking, and grab a spot on the beach so we didn't miss anything. I think we expected only a handful of pups to appear and we were worried we'd miss them?
Let me tell you, there was no way to miss the festivities. When in doubt, just follow the swaying corgi butts all the way to the beach. Although we arrived pretty early (9 AM), it was already starting to get busy, and there were caravans of cars with corgi-related bumper stickers descending on Seaside.
The corginization was fantastic! It seemed like every human attending had minimum 1 corgi, but some were being pulled along by two or more. There were packs of corgis wandering around and greeting each other. The cacophony of all of the barking could probably be heard down to the next beach. There were the teeniest of corgi puppies, large corgies, and non-corgi breeds all over, and it was the absolute best day ever. There was a costume contest, corgi racing, and amazing vendors, like the Oregon Humane Society (I purchased a fantastic beanie), Pelican Brewing, and Fetch.
